
The International Labour Organisation Conference adopted in June 1986, Convention 162 conference safety in the use of asbestos.
The convention adopted by more than 140 countries provides for preventive measures and method corrections to minimize the exposure of workers to asbestos dust by mechanical means, procedures, regulation standards, etc… The use of crocidolite and the spraying of asbestos are prohibited.
Labelling of products, wearing of appropriate work clothes, elimination of friable waste, training and informing workers, surveillance of their health, substitution, etc… are all covered by this historic agreement regulating the safe use of chrysotile.
